We learn ASL (American Sign Language) together as a family, this year I found this awesome curriculum at our local Homeschool Convention. I bought both volumes as we can use the first as a review and really dive into the second one. Because Grace is deaf this is obviously very important for us as a family to master, so I pass  what we finish along to extended family and friends.  The community helpers that the girls will be doing together is part of a curriculum written to teach deaf/hh children. I love this web sight (Color of Language), now that Grace is older I will be utilizing this sight much more than I have in the past. If any of you out there want to learn sign language in your homeschool this is an excellent web page to check out. It can work with hearing as well as non-hearing children (and us adults also. ) ;)

Time to get to some packing, yes we plan on moving as soon as the Lord provides us with the house that He has for us to live in. We want/need to be closer to our church. Praying He moves us soon.

Happy Homeschool Planning,
Christine

  1. Isn't getting ready for school fun! We are on week 3 already and it is going very well. I am so thankful I have the privilege to do this. I was wondering if you do any foreign language. You might feel that Sign is all you have time for! I wanted to mention a Spanish program they have online that is presented with sign language. Here is the link. You have to go to this homeschoolers blog to use it. I used to have a direct link, but it quit working. http://littlehomeschoolblessings.blogspot.com/2010/11/spanish-series-salsa.html At her blog you can see the links for the individual episodes. Just a thought! :)
Praying for a blessed year for you! Eva

  2. Signing for us is a necessity, and it does make a nice second language. I do have a spanish program I plan on implementing next year sometime (actually another homeschool mom and myself). One of my best friends is a high school spanish teacher (as well as a college spanish teacher), she plans on helping us with it.
The ASL programs I use include english and spanish with each sign, so my children get all three at the same time. Living in Ca. spanish is very important to learn.
Thanks for the tip, I'll check out the web sight, it looks interesting. Casafunclub.com is the spanish program I'll be using, it's written by a homeschool mom who's primary language is spanish. Love it! :)
    Have a blessed school year!
